The "CCS-SAL Competition Law Conference 2017 - New Approaches for a New Economy" is the Competition Commission of Singapore's (CCS) flagship event, and aims to highlight key developments and emerging trends in competition law and policy in Singapore. The conference further provides a platform for participants to hear from distinguished local and international competition experts including academics, competition law practitioners, businesses and regulators from ASEAN and jurisdictions beyond.
The theme of the conference this year will be on the role of competition law and policy in making markets work well. PDPC's Deputy Commissioner, Mr Yeong Zee Kin, will be participating in the second panel session of the day, on "Big Data - What's the big deal?". The session promises to provide insights on how big data can be used as an asset for innovation, the possible issues arising from big data that are faced by private firms and regulators, as well as the need for impacts of big data to be factored in by authorities in enforcement.
