While your registration with the DNC Registry is immediate, you may continue to receive unsolicited telemarketing messages for up to 30 days. This is to allow organisations to use the list of telephone numbers that were checked, for the next 30 days.
For example, if you registered your number on 10 January 2016, you can expect to stop receiving such messages only from 9 February 2016.
As the DNC provisions focus on telemarketing messages targeted at consumers, you may still receive certain types of messages (such as messages offering you employment, surveys or business-to-business messages).
Also, organisations that have an ongoing relationship with you are exempted from having to check the DNC Registry if they send you telemarketing messages on similar or related products and services.
If you still receive unsolicited telemarketing messages after 30 days of registration, you may continue to lodge your complaint here.
