Advisory on Unsolicited Robocalls

30 Dec 2020

The PDPC has been alerted to cases of members of the public receiving unsolicited robo phone calls from scammers impersonating as the PDPC. Members of the public are advised to take the following actions:

  • Do not respond to telephone calls or text messages from such caller(s)/sender(s);
  • Do not provide personal information including bank details;
  • If the call is unsolicited, and the caller claims to be a representative of an organisation, you should always check with the official contact of the organisation that the caller or sender claims to be from; and
  • Use the blocking function(s) available on your mobile phone to prevent further calls and text messages from the same sender.

If you have information related to such incidents, please report to the Police by calling 1800 255 0000 or submitting the information online via i-Witness.
